A Bit of Poetry

And all my days are trances,
  And all my nightly dreams
Are where thy grey eye glances,
  And where thy footstep gleams-
In what ethereal dances,
  By what eternal streams.

G R A T I T U D E ~ I want to acknowledge my sincere love and gratitude for everyone who has helped me reach this moment and express my spirit fully. No, wait. This moment.... this one too. And to all those future people and future moments.

A Bit of Bich
Bich (that's pronounced "bit") Minh Nguyen, that is. Bich and I went to elementary school together. I recently found out that she wrote a book called Stealing Buddha's Dinner which won the PEN/Jerard award while it was still in manuscript form. She came to Seattle for a book reading, we had some tea, and chatted a bit about the old days and how we got to where we are today. I hadn't seen her since maybe 8th or 9th grade; it was nice to see her doing so well after all these years!

The Great Way is not difficult
for those who have no preferences.
When love and hate are both absent
everything becomes clear and undisguised.
Make the smallest distinction, however,
and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart.

If you wish to see the truth
then hold no opinions for or against anything.
To set up what you like against what you dislike
is the disease of the mind.
When the deep meaning of things is not understood,
the mind’s essential peace is disturbed to no avail.
